Global Governance Adapted to 21st Century Challenges
10th Summit of Presidents of G20 Parliaments (P20)
The 10th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) is scheduled to take place at the National Congress Palace, the seat of Brazil’s legislative authority, on November 7 and 8, 2024, in Brasília-DF. Centered around the theme “Parliaments for a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” the event aims to gather parliamentary leaders to tackle urgent global issues such as combating hunger, reducing poverty, and achieving a fair and inclusive ecological transition.
The Summit aspires to bolster parliamentary diplomacy, fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences among G20 nations with a view to formulating legislative solutions to contemporary challenges. It also seeks to enhance global governance by aligning parliaments more closely with the genuine needs of populations, aiding in the creation of a more equitable and sustainable future for everyone.
This event, co-organized by the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), will also include the G20 Parliamentary Forum on November 6, 2024, themed “Toward Implementing the Recommendations of the 1st P20 Women's Parliamentary Meeting (Maceió, July 1-2).”
